Harvey raises $550M at a $15.5B valuation as legal AI revenue crosses $400M

The round, co-led by Lightspeed and the new firm Diffusion, lands less than six months after Harvey's $200M raise at an $11B valuation - and arrives with an acquisition attached.

Harvey, the legal AI company, has raised $550 million in a new round that values it at roughly $15.5 billion. Bloomberg put the figure slightly higher, at $15.6 billion. Either way it is an increase of close to $5 billion in under six months: the company's previous round, announced earlier this year, raised $200 million at an $11 billion valuation.

The round was co-led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and Diffusion, a new firm co-founded by Kris Fredrickson, a longtime Harvey backer who previously invested from Coatue Management. Sapphire Ventures and Whale Rock Capital Management also participated, alongside a number of Harvey's existing investors.

The numbers behind the raise

Harvey has raised more than $1.5 billion in total since launching in 2022.

The company says it has now crossed $400 million in annual recurring revenue and serves more than 3,000 customers. According to co-founder Winston Weinberg, that customer base includes 80% of the top 100 law firms, 20% of the Fortune 500, and half of the Fortune 10.

Those are company-reported figures rather than audited ones, and worth reading as such. But the direction is not really in dispute: revenue at that scale puts Harvey among a very small group of application-layer AI companies with enterprise distribution deep enough to justify the multiple.

An acquisition alongside the round

Harvey also announced that it has acquired Guardrails AI, a San Francisco company building a security platform for AI agents.

The logic is straightforward. Harvey's product increasingly runs agentic workflows inside law firms and corporate legal departments - environments where a wrong answer is not merely embarrassing but potentially actionable. Buying a guardrails layer rather than building one is the faster route to the compliance posture those customers require.

Why this round matters

The interesting signal here is not the headline number. It is where the money is going.

For most of the past three years the largest AI rounds went to model labs and the infrastructure underneath them. Harvey is neither. It is an application company in a single vertical, and it is being valued on the basis of revenue and distribution rather than research capability. That is a meaningfully different bet, and it is being made at a scale that was not available to application-layer companies two years ago.
